A January court date was set last week during a status call for Pawel Borowski-Beszta, a former student at Oak Park and River Forest High School who was arrested in August for allegedly running a drug sales operation out of an Oak Park apartment.
An attempt by two men over the weekend to lure teenagers into their car has left one Oak Park mother encouraging her neighbors to be on alert. Crystal Brown, who lives in the 1000 block of North Lombard Avenue said her neighbor's 16-year-old daughter was walking Sunday afternoon with a friend on LeMoyne Parkway when two men in a silver car began to follow them.
Several thousand dollars of merchandise was taken from the Austin Boulevard Christian Church last week. An unknown person broke a lock to a storage room at the church, 634 N. Austin Blvd., Nov. 10-11, and took a black Folio SX sound board.
Oak Park and River Forest High School has seen an increase in student arrests in recent weeks resulting from rising reports of theft, and officials have come up with a couple of different reasons for the spike. So far this month, at least three students have been arrested in connection with thefts at the school.
