Though it sometimes appears that Oak Park is being inundated ad nauseam by consultant reports, we are encouraged by the fruits of Crandall Arambula's fresh take on downtown Oak Park. Most recently, the consulting firm's recommendation to add three properties to the downtown TIF looks to be the sort of logical idea that might not quickly occur to the average insider.

Don Offermann has been a prominent name in Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park for many years. As a faculty member, coach, and eventually superintendent at Oak Park and River Forest High School from 1964 through 1999, he is well known to thousands of OPRF grads. Since retirement from OPRF, he has remained active, working as Business Development Officer for the Forest Park National Bank.
The Oak Park village board voted last week to buy the former site of the Shepherd Motors Volvo dealership, 260 Madison St., for $1.5 million. The village may now consider relocating a business with expansion plans to the parcel, or pursue development of a project that includes a retail component, said Mike Chen, director of village development services.
