Carol Lydecker Dwyer, 57, of Forest Park, formerly of Oak Park, died on Oct. 2, 2012 after battling cancer for more than two years. She was a dancer, choreographer, community theater actress and administrative manager for the Urban Innovations property management company.
David L. Kusinitz, 59, of Oak Park died on Oct. 9, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. After earning bachelor's degrees in government and history from Clark University, he continued his education at the University of Chicago where he received a master's degree in political science.
Joan Enyart Scheltens, 58, of Oak Park, died on Oct. 7, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 8, 1954, she graduated from Trinity High School in 1972, earned a B.S. from Dominican University in 1976, and received her Master's in Education, also from Dominican.
Laurie Jackson, 67, of Forest Park, formerly of Oak Park, died on Oct. 14, 2012 after a long battle with lung cancer. She was a friend to the community and a dedicated employee at Dominick's in Oak Park for the last 15 years.
Rose Sugden, 97, died peacefully at West Suburban Hospital on Sept. 26, 2012. Upon her retirement from teaching in 1980, she worked tirelessly for the Nineteenth Century Charitable Association and its scholarship fund.
Col. Richard A. Radtke, U.S. Army Retired, 86, of Highland, died on Sept. 23, 2012 at his residence. Born on April 20, 1926 in Oak Park, he graduated high school in 1944 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps.
Erica Cecilie Weinberg, 90, died on Aug. 29, 2012 at the University of Chicago Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Berlin, Germany on April 2, 1922 to Edward and Kathe (Staub) Müller, she was a clinical social worker. For over 50 years, she worked in a wide range of foster home and mental health agencies in Chicago and western Massachusetts, where her responsibilities included training social work student interns from Smith College.
Ilene Wimberley Snyder, 65, died peacefully on July 25, 2012 at her Oak Park home with her husband of over 36 years at her side. Born on Aug. 17, 1946 in Monroe, La. to CV and Doris Wimberley, she grew up in West Monroe, La. She attended Louisiana College and worked in social services and counseling jobs in Lake Providence and Pineville, La. for several years. After earning a Master of Elementary Education degree from the University of South Carolina in 1974, she taught fourth grade at Ft. Jackson Elementary School in Columbia, S.C. and in Tampa, Fla.
