A public hearing Wednesday was a trial of complaints and concerns for The Regency Club, the proposed 7-story condominium development on the Bank One parking lot at the corner of Marion and Ontario Streets.
Though the deadline on a put-call agreement between the Taxman Corporation and the village regarding the Colt building in Downtown Oak Park has already been twice extended, the developer is now asking the village board to address the future of the Westgate Avenue/Lake Street parcel by the end of June.
The village of River Forest did something of an about face Monday night on the issue of municipal contributions to local community groups. At Trustee Michael O'Connell's urging, the board agreed to revisit the issue via memos between trustees and discussion at a future board meeting over the summer.
Hundred of parents waited 30 anxious minutes for Ellen Holleman to appear on Wednesday, May 18â€"stuffed cheek to jowl into the bleachers in Percy Julian Middle School's gymnasium. We'd been told to come at 8:30 p.m. and to KEEP IT QUIET. Ms. Holleman was conducting a band concert in the Julian auditorium that started at 7:30 p.m., and she was not, under any circumstances, to be alerted to her post-concert surprise.

Two adults and a pair of juveniles have been charged with armed robbery and aggravated robbery by Oak Park police in connection with a robbery of the 7-Eleven at 515 Madison St. early Monday morning. In addition, River Forest police have charged the two juveniles in connection with the armed robbery of the White Hen at 7971 W. Lake St.
