John Joseph Kuenster, 66, died on July 28, 2010. Born to Helen and the late Sylvester Kuenster on Jan. 27, 1946, he enjoyed a happy childhood in Oak Park, receiving his education at St. Edmund School and Fenwick High School.
Robert D. Kwas, 73, an Oak Park resident for 33 years, died on June 25, 2012. Born to Helen and Stanley Kwas in Racine, Wis., on Jan. 4, 1939, he first showed artistic promise as a boy, drawing at his grandmother's dining room table during World War II.
Jane Cameron Lare, 76, died unexpectedly at her River Forest home on July 7, 2012. Born on May 20, 1936 in Chicago Heights, she attended local schools until moving with her family to California in 1949.
Kenneth L. Hester, 92, died in his River Forest home on July 11, 2012. Born in Marion on May 24, 1920, he moved to Chicago and later attended Lane Technical High School. After working at Butler Bros., he went on to become one of the founders of Teamsters Local 743, where he worked for 59 years and served as secretary-treasurer until his retirement.
Thomas Francis McGrath III, 68, died on July 15, 2012. Born on Sept. 30, 1943, he was an Oak Park resident for 45 years. After earning his MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Business, he spent most of his career on LaSalle Street in the trust department of several banks.
Norman Carroll's lifelong goal was to be an academic, his son Mark said. In the one-line profession description on his discharge papers from the U.S. Army in the early 1950s, that's what Carroll had filled in. He went on to wear many hats at Dominican University, which was only blocks from his River Forest home.
Rev. John R. Lynch, 70, a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago for 45 years, died on July 10, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston as a result of a head injury received in a fall at his home on July 1. Father Lynch had served most recently as associate pastor at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Chicago.
