New police cars hitting the streets of Oak Park are more spacious and get better fuel mileage than the previous discontinued model. The village's Public Works Department went through a state bid process to purchase the five Dodge Chargers for about $23,000 each, said Deputy Police Chief Anthony Ambrose.

A Chicago woman has been charged with conning a 93-year-old disabled widow of a World War II veteran out of her River Forest home and leaving her at a nursing home without any of her belongings, forcing staff to provide her with second-hand clothes from former residents, according to a news release from the Office of Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez.
Former state Senator Rickey Hendon's campaign treasurer, along with six other people, were arrested on various corruption charges, July 17, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. Hendon's ex-treasurer, Dean Nichols, of Oak Park, was among those named in the federal grand jury indictments. Nichols, 62, was charged with three counts of bribery conspiracy.
