Michiko "Mickey" Mizuno, 92, died on March 7, 2013 at Berkshire Rehab and Nursing Home in Forest Park. Born on October 10, 1920 in Los Angeles, Calif., she was a longtime resident of Oak Park and worked for several years at Suburban Trust and Savings Bank.
Thelma P. Windsor, 85, of Oak Park, died on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Rush Oak Park Hospital after a battle with cancer. Born on June 6, 1927 to Harold and Lydia Marsden of Sheffield, England, she grew up with one sibling, her late sister Patricia, and was educated at the Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School in Lincolnshire, alongside a young Margaret Thatcher.
William ("Bill") Leonard Fischer of Evanston, 73, died peacefully on April 22, 2013. Born on Aug. 18, 1939 in South Bend, Ind., to Leslie Henry and Merle Tregoning Fischer, his childhood years were spent in Niles, Mich., where he graduated from Niles High School in 1957.
Patricia Tull Marti, 84, formerly of Glenwood and Salt Lake City, Utah, died on May 24, 2013 at her home in Oak Park. Born on Jan. 1, 1929 to the late Andrew and Emma Lankford Tull, she graduated from Longfellow Elementary and East High School.
Rose Luif (nee Pawlikowski), 100, a longtime resident of Oak Park, died on May 22, 2013. Born on Aug. 31, 1912 in Chicago to Wojciech and Elzbieta Pawlikowski, she attended St. Joseph Grammar School and Lindblom High School in Chicago.
Edward E. McGrath, 75, a longtime resident of Oak Park, died suddenly on May 22, 2013. He was the husband of Janice (nee Slepicka); the father of Jeff (Stacey) and Kimberly (Daniel) Sass; proud papa of Ryan, Nick, Corey and Madison; uncle of many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his two sisters.
Angela G. Paterakis, a River Forest resident for over 50 years and an instructor at the Art Institute, died on May 19, 2013. She was a consummate mentor who established a network of arts educators to serve generations of Illinois school children.
Phyllis Ann Erickson, a lifelong resident of Oak Park, died on May 9, 2013 at the Bethesda Home in Chicago. Born on July 3, 1926 at Westside Hospital in Chicago to Dr. Iver A. and Helen M. Oveson, she attended Horace Mann School, Oak Park and River Forest High School, completed two years at Dennison, and received a teaching degree from the National College of Education in Evanston.
Michael Edward Hawkins, of Oak Park, Berwyn, and other parts of the Chicago area, died on May 10, 2013. Born on Oct. 21, 1936 to Jason and Laura (Ryan) Hawkins, he graduated in 1954 from St. Mel High School, where he was a member of the City of Chicago High School Basketball championship team. He attended Loyola University where he later served as the dean of men.
