Jacob Joseph "Joe" Levin, 82, of Oak Park, died in his home on June 8, 2013. Born in New York City on Aug. 15, 1930, he married his wife, Doris, in 1949, and they then moved together to upstate New York to attend school.
John Edward Kelly III, 70, formerly of River Forest and Hanover Park, died in Punta Gorda, Fla. on April 27, 2013. He grew up in River Forest and attended Oak Park and River Forest High School, where he played football and wrestled his junior and senior years.
Jane E. Hockstein-Netter, 89, of Oak Park, died on June 16, 2013. Visitation will be held on June 20 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Edmund Church at 10:30 a.m., June 21, followed by private interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Dr. Patrick Staunton, 85, died on June 9, 2013 after a 14-month battle with brain cancer. Born on April 9, 1928 in the town of Swinford, County Mayo, in the west of Ireland, he was the first of his family to come to the United States but far from the first to practice medicine.
Visitation will take place on June 12 from 3 to 8 p.m., at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road (3 blocks south of Roosevelt Road), Lombard. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 13, at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
Sholom I. Gliksman, 69, formerly of Oak Park, died in his home in Madison, Wis., on May 16, 2013. Born on May 18, 1943 in Chicago and raised in Detroit, he was an alumnus of the Ida Crown Jewish Academy, the Chicago Theological Seminary, Roosevelt University, Loyola University and Syracuse University.
Thelma P. Windsor, 85, of Oak Park, died on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Rush Oak Park Hospital after a battle with cancer. Born on June 22, 1927 to Harold and Lydia Marsden of Sheffield, England, she grew up with one sibling, her late sister Patricia, and was educated at the Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School in Lincolnshire, alongside a young Margaret Thatcher.
James Stafford "Staff" Smith, 80, died on June 3, 2013. Born in Oak Park, he was baptized at St. Angela Catholic Church in Chicago's Austin neighborhood and graduated from St. Catherine of Siena Grammar School in 1947.
