A 28-year-old Maywood man was charged Thursday with one count of kidnapping and one count of child abduction for separate abduction attempts of two Oak Park girls as they walked to school, the morning of Dec. 5.
A man police arrested Wednesday morning for alleged abduction attempts of Oak Park students just minutes apart may also have been involved in an incident Tuesday afternoon, when another student told police she was followed home from Oak Park and River Forest High School, according to a statement from Oak Park police.
After more than a year on the run, Carol Mix, of Maywood, was taken into custody in Waterloo, Iowa, on Nov. 27 and extradited to Forest Park. Mix is a suspect in the February 2011 evening attack of a 71-year-old Oak Park woman in the Ultra Foods parking lot at 7520 Roosevelt Rd.
Two men approached an Oak Park resident, the night of Nov. 21, in the 1100 block of North Humphrey Avenue while the victim was cleaning his vehicle. One offender told him to "give me what you got," and the victim sprayed both men in the face with a carpet cleaner.
