Cluster Tutoring needs volunteers to tutor students from Chicago's Austin community on either Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. We are especially looking for tutors to work with students in grades K-2 for Cluster's new Ready Readers curriculum, where the goal is reading proficiency by third grade.

Cluster Tutoring has been providing free one-to-one tutoring for students from the Austin community and the West Side of Chicago for more than 20 years. Most of our volunteers enjoy tutoring so much, they come back the following year. In fact, more than half of our tutors have been involved with Cluster for three or more years and find they get as much out of the program as the students. The atmosphere is supportive, friendly, and relaxed.

The commitment involves one 90-minute session each week through mid-May. Volunteers can come either on Tuesday to the Pine Avenue Church (5460 W. Augusta Blvd. in Chicago) or on Thursday to First United Church of Oak Park (848 Lake St.).
