With a 28-7 victory over Leo on Sunday evening at Gately Stadium in Chicago, the Fenwick football program indicated it's looking forward to returning to the White Division of the Catholic League next season.

The Friars, finally getting a break from the gauntlet of powerhouse Blue Division opponents, opened the scoring on a four-yard touchdown pass from Pat Hart to Matt Stein with seconds left in the first quarter. The Lions answered early in the second when Gerard Baker connected with Bruce Gray on a 40-yard pass for a touchdown. But Fenwick rattled off three unanswered touchdowns to handily pull off the crossover league victory.

Hart scored on a run from a yard out with 4:25 left in the first half. The sophomore quarterback scored again in the third, this time on a four-yard run. He capped off the one touchdown per quarter scoring with a seven-yard TD pass to Sam Ainsworth in the fourth.

Hart finished 8-of-18 passing for 84 yards and two touchdowns. But it was Fenwick's running game that kept Leo on its heels. The Friars racked up 167 yards rushing, with running back Eric Hulihan tallying 68 yards on 14 carries.

Fenwick's defense held the Lions to just 38 yards on the ground, and recovered two fumbles.

The Friars jump back into Blue Division play when they host Providence on Saturday at Morton West High School (1:30 p.m.). Both teams are in search of a victory in the Blue.
