John E. "Jack" Goggin of River Forest and Fontana, Wis., died on Sept. 24, 2011. Born on Oct. 20, 1923, he was the longtime associate clerk of the Cook County Circuit Court, a consultant to the office of the Chief Judge of Cook County, a retired member of Cook County Pension Fund Board of Directors, a retired captain in the U.S. Army in China, Burma, and the India theaters during World War II, past national commander-in-chief of the Military Order of the World Wars, and bailiff of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem.
Jack Goggin was the husband for 67 years of Helen (nee McSweeney); the son of the late John P. and the late Sarah (nee McCabe); the father of John P. (Sandra), Michael (Nancy), Terrence (Gail), Brian, Kevin (Diane), Trudi (Susan Kaszynski), Kathy Panek Goggin and the late Daniel Goggin; the grandfather of Kerry (Andrew) Gallios, John (Megan), Sara (Brian) Young, Michael (Kristen Eisenhart), Patrick (Bridget), Maureen, Kelly (Jason) Widuch, Brie Kolovitz, John McConachie, Terrence (Bridget), Bridget (Joseph) Bigane, Sheila, John (Katherine), Colleen (Thomas) Krupa, Nicholas, Timothy, Matthew and Anthony; and the great-grandfather of 24.
Visitation was held Sept. 27 at Wooodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 W. Cermak Road, Forest Park. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Giles Church in Oak Park on Sept. 28 at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment at Carmel Cemetery.
