Thousands of twinkling lights formed a sea of stars above 450 guests at ``A Starry Night in the Garden,' the Sept. 7 Preview Paty for the 35th Annual Oak Park-River Forest Infant Welfare Society Designer Showcase House & Garden in the gardens at historic Cheney Mansion.

In 2005, six members of the Infant Welfare Society approached the Park District of Oak Park proposing the extraordinary partnership that updated and renovated the 12,000-square- foot, circa 1913 building. The efforts of more than 25 of the Chicago area's most prestigious interior designers completed the stylish showcase house.

Open for public tours through Sept. 30, all proceeds of the three-week project benefit the Oak Park Infant Welfare Clinic, 320 Lake St., which last year provided more than 2,000 medical visits and 4,500 dental visits to children in need from 50 Western Cook County communities.
