Construction began on the Bank One parking lot last week after closing to public parking in mid-July.
John Schiess, architect for a townhouse and condominium project on the property, said the project was not delayed.
"We were?#34;and still are?#34;working on fine-tuning the design of a 56-unit condo building and the other buildings around it," Schiess said.
He added that a fence needed to be built around the lot for liability reasons after the village removed its parking meters.
Construction will begin on the north end of the lot, with the condo building to follow. The space is now being excavated, and Schiess expects construction to begin within two months.
Schiess expects the first new owners to move in late next summer.
