Jimmy Richard Davis, 28, of Oak Park, died on Saturday, Sept. 14, from complications related to his long battle with muscular dystrophy, fighting with valor to the very end. A lifelong Oak Park resident and Cubs fan, he attended Julian Middle School and graduated from OPRF High School in 2006. He loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed going to the zoo, playing video games, watching standup comedy, going to church, and meeting new people, especially children. Family and friends say he had a youthful love of life that spread to anyone he met.

Jimmy Davis is survived by his parents, Jim and Connie; his siblings Kathleen, Sarah (Peter Nowicki), and John; and his nieces and nephews, Bryan, Brittany, Shawn, and Patrick.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home in Oak Park. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Sept. 21 at Ascension Church. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Ronald McDonald House (rmhccni.org) are appreciated.

My deepest condolences to Jimmy's family. He sounds a lot like me, including being an avid Cubs fan. Jimmy, you are truly an inspiration. When the Cubs finally do it, we'll celebrate right alongside you.
