Thomas Woods, 66, Electrician, Ascension parishioner
Thomas James Woods, 66, died at West Suburban Medical Center on Sept. 7, 2005. He was born Sept. 20, 1938 in Chicago to Gertrude and Robert Woods. Raised in Oak Park, he attended St. Catherine of Siena grade school and Fenwick High School. He then attended the University of Montana and served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Woods was a devout Christian and a parishioner of Ascension Church in Oak Park. An electrician, he was a long-time member of I.B.E.W., local 134.

Thomas Woods is survived by his wife, Carole; his children, Bernard (Vilija), William (Michelle), Timothy (Kelly), Daniel (Noreen), Anne Marie (Benoit) Magrin, and Patrick of Oak Park.

Visitation was held Sept. 9, at Dreschler, Brown, & Williams Funeral Home, Oak Park. A funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 10 at Ascension Church, followed by interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Mount St. Joseph, 24955 N. Rand Rd., Lake Zurich 60047.

Hazel Prawiec, 89, Homemaker
Hazel Prawiec, 89, died at West Suburban Hospital, on Sept. 3, 2005. She was a homemaker and active community member, serving for 50 years as a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Commodore Barry Post #256, American Legion, of Berwyn.

Hazel was the wife of the late Edward Prawiec. She is survived by her nephew, William (Judith) Miner, and niece, Mary (Ivan) Espinosa.

Visitation was held Sept. 8 at Kopicki's Parkwyn Funeral Home. A service was held Sept. 9 at the funeral home, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Evergreen Park.

Evelyn Solnes, 86, Retired bookkeeper
Evelyn M. Solnes (nee Knight), 86, died at Loyola University Medical Center on Sept. 1, 2005. She was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Chicago. A resident of Westchester, former resident of Oak Park, she was a retired bookkeeper.

Evelyn Solnes is survived by her husband, Elmer L. Solnes, her children Larry (Bridget) Solnes, Raymond Solnes, Marilyn (Tony) La Paglia, Jim Solnes, Anne (Rich) Nissley, and her seven grandchildren.

Visitation was held Sept. 5 at Hursen Funeral Home in Hillside. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 6 at Diving Infant Catholic Church in Westchester, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
