Another Oak Park native has joined the limelight as Second City's Cecily Strong has been named as one of the newest additions to the cast of Saturday Night Live.

Strong, along with Second City's Aidy Bryant and Tim Robinson, join the show's cast after the departure of Andy Samberg, Kristin Whig and Abby Elliott.

Strong got her start studying in The Second City Training Center in the Conservatory program and has been performing with The Second City Touring Company since 2011. She also toured with Second City Theatricals performing aboard the Norwegian Jewel, and has performed with iO Chicago Theater.

Cecily was in several VP productions, especially the Children's Theater program. I recalled her as a camel in "Aladdin" and in the starring role of "The Littlest Reindeer" at about age 9. Great to see her on TV.

Ok, let's try this test. I have a joke. A Jew, Black, lesbian and Muslim go into a bar...

Funny how some racist/ethnic insults and stereotypical remarks are OK and others are quickly removed from this site.

The Irish tend to slur more than others.

Yikes, Eric. I sure was not slurring Bill Strong.

just in case you thought John Murtaugh was saying that Cecily was unfortunately from OPRF, - he was just responding to "Unfortunately"

How about some school info in the piece? Or some comments from old teachers?? All i see is native of Oak Park.

@JBM. Thanks. In my experience, announcements of this sort are typically/understandably accompanied by comments from classmates and friends saying things like "Congratulations!" and "I remember when 'x' and I were..." This time...nothing. So, let me be the first on this thread: CONGRATULATIONS on Cecily's success!!! I'm also a parent and I know that achievements like this only occur thru talent, hard work, and tremendous support from others - so, also, CONGRATS to her OP family and friends!!!

Unfortunately - Cecily is a OPRF graduate. She is the daughter of Bill Strong, a businessman, that is a well known resident of OP.

"Oak Park native...."? Was she born and/or raised in Oak Park? What elementary or high school? Just curious, but I know what year Hemingway graduated from OPRF and throw in Mastrantonio and Castellaneta, too. Happy for her success, but I'm just curious.

I remember her as the little girl in Grapes of Wrath at Village Players!

She was very good tonight. I laughed more at her appearance on Weekend Update than anything else.
