Pool sports and games night

This Friday night at Ridgeland Common Pool, 415 W. Lake, bring your kids out for a fun night of pool sports and games from 8-10 p.m. For children ages 9-14, they can cool off in the pool playing volleyball, basket ball and water polo or they can participate in the contest with awesome prizes and plenty of pizza. 41st Annual Book Fair

For all you bookworms out there, don't miss The Friends of the Oak Park Public Library's Annual Book Fair at Oak Park River Forest HIgh School, 201 N. Scoville. There will be thousands of books to choose from classics to cookbooks to children's books and more. Hard cover books are $2.00 and paperback books range from $0.50-$1.00. The fair starts Friday with a $5.00 admission and lasts from 6-10 p.m. Then on Saturday, admission is free and the fair will continue from 9 a.m - 5 p.m. Visit www.oppl.org for more details.

Battle of the Bands 2011

Finally, don't miss the opportunity to see the winners from the June 4 segment of the Illinois Battle of the Bands competition as these budding bands compete in the second leg in hopes of making it to the finals at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield. This Saturday at the Park District of Forest Park, 7501 W. Harrison, you'll have the opportunity to win great prizes in the audience as well as support local talent.
