Free family movie in the park

Looking for something fun to do with the whole family this Friday night? There will be a free showing of How to Train Your Dragon, sponsored by the South East Oak Park Community Organization (SEOPCO) and the Park District of Oak Park, starting with pre-show entertainment at 5:30 p.m. and the movie at 8 p.m. The Irving PTO will be selling pizza between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. and Istvan and His Imaginary Band will be performing before the show.

The event is taking place at Barrie Center and Park located at 1011 Lombard Ave. For more information, call 708-386-6905 or visit www.seopco.org.

Taste the Flavor of Oak Park

This Saturday and Sunday, be sure to make your way over to Scoville Park, at the corner of Oak Park Avenue and Lake Street, for the annual Taste the Flavor of Oak Park Event. In its 8th year, this festival features music, food, art, talent and a fashion showcase. The event is being held both days from noon to 7 p.m. For more information, call Joie Pierce at 708-524-2415.

Green Fair & Eco-Film Fest

On Sunday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., don't miss the Green Fair & Eco-Film Fest. At noon and again at 3 p.m., the festival will be screening the documentary "Deep Green" by Matt Briggs, "a compelling journey to nine countries, including China, to uncover the best ideas, cutting-edge technologies and restorative solutions to address the job of fixing climate change". Gary Cuneen, founder of Oak Park based Seven Generations Ahead, will be moderating a discussion after the film.

Additionally, there will be international booths, live music and tours of an established prairie garden. Everyone is encouraged to bring excess produce from their garden for a harvest and seed.

Tickets for the film are available at www.goodshepherdlc.org for $5 ($7.50 at the door). For more information on the Green Fair & Eco-Film Fest, visit their facebook page or call 708-848-4741. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is located at 611 Randolph St.
