Oak Park and River Forest police reports Aug. 16-22

Motor vehicle theft

A tan 2002 Toyota Sienna minivan was removed from a location on the 900 block of S. Maple by an unknown person between Aug. 14 and 15. Inside the vehicle were various hand tools, golf clubs, and a set of car and house keys. The vehicle was later recovered at a location on the 4700 block of W. Flournoy in Chicago.

Theft

A young man approached a victim on the 500 block of N. Austin on Aug. 15 and asked to use the victim's silver iPod. When the victim refused, the offender grabbed the iPod and fled eastbound. Estimated loss is $100.

A gray women's 24-inch Huffy bicycle and a blue bike helmet were removed from the rear porch of a residence on the 400 block of S. Ridgeland, Aug. 15-16, by an unknown offender. Estimated loss is $80.

A silver and blue Trek 3500 men's bicycle and a bike lock were removed from a bike rack at a location on the 300 block of South Blvd. on Aug. 18. Estimated loss is $165.

A blue Trek Navigator 21-speed bicycle was removed from the rear outside staircase of a location on the 800 block of S. Euclid, Aug. 15-17. Estimated loss is $500.

A blue women's Schwinn bicycle and a black men's Schwinn bicycle were removed from a location on the 900 block of S. Kenilworth, Aug. 18-19. Estimated loss is $100.

A black leather wallet containing $60 in cash, a black Kyocera cellphone and a gold-plated watch were removed from a residence located on the 400 block of S. Oak Park, July 29-Aug. 19. Estimated loss is $205.

250 feet of copper wiring were removed from temporary service electric poles that were unattended outside a business on the 900 block of Garfield, Aug. 15-19. Estimated loss is $350.

Theft from motor vehicle

A catalytic converter was removed from a vehicle parked on the 1100 block of Ontario, Aug. 15, by unknown means. Estimated loss is $300.

Side fender air vent covers were removed from a vehicle parked on the first block of Pleasant, Aug. 16-17. Estimated loss is $500.

Residential burglary

A gray 15-inch Dell laptop computer was removed from a residence on the 1100 block of S. Highland, Aug. 14-15, by an offender who gained entry into the home my means of an open front door. Estimated loss is $950.

Two black Apple iPads, a red Dell laptop computer, a black Nikon digital camera, a black digital camera of an unknown brand, and miscellaneous jewelry were removed from a residence located on the 800 block of S. East on Aug. 19. Estimated loss is $2,850.

Retail theft

Two bottles of tequila and a bottle of vodka were removed from a display in a business located on the 200 block of Lake, Aug. 15, by an unknown offender who fled the scene southbound on foot. The items were recovered a short time later in the rear of the store. No further loss was reported.

A pair of women's boots were removed from a store on the 400 block of N. Harlem after an unidentified female offender concealed the boots inside a shopping bag and exited the store without paying. Estimated loss is $37.

A Dell laptop was taken from the library at Dominican University on the 7900 block of Division on Aug. 15, while it was left unattended by its owner. Estimated loss is $500.

A wallet was taken from a victim's purse while the victim was dining at Panera Bread on the 7300 block of Lake, Aug. 18. The wallet contained $100 in cash, an Illinois driver's license, two credit cards and miscellaneous identification cards.

Lotion and facial pads were removed from a display shelf at the CVS Pharmacy on the 300 block of Madison, Aug. 21. The items were concealed inside a baby stroller and a purse by two female offenders. The total loss is unknown.

Theft arrest

Paul Barnes, 21, of the 900 block of S. Grove was arrested for theft of mail at a location on the 800 block of Garfield on Aug. 16.

Robbery, aggravated battery arrest

Blake J. Bondurant, 25, of the 600 block of N. 1st Ave. in Maywood, was arrested after being positively identified on the scene as the offender who struck a victim with his fists, causing multiple injuries, and removing the victim's wallet.

Burglary to motor vehicle arrest

A male juvenile from Oak Park was arrested on the 100 block of N. Elmwood, Aug. 18, following a brief foot chase after a witness saw the offender inside two vehicles parked in the rear of the 200 block of W. Lake.

Burglary to garage

Two vehicles were ransacked and a Sony stereo system was removed from inside a garage on the 1100 block of S. Home on Aug. 19. Estimated loss is $100.

A men's black Fuji bicycle, a women's gray mountain bicycle, a men's green Cannondale road bicycle, a black orbital buffer, a black case containing drill bits, a Skil power drill, a Black and Decker belt sander, a Mikita screw gun, a Black and Decker circular saw, and a black Powerbilt duffel bag were removed from a garage on the 100 block of N. Euclid between Aug. 18 and 20.

These items were obtained from the Oak Park and River Forest police departments, Aug. 16-22, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated.
