Oak Park's beautiful, mature parkway trees will surely be quite decimated within the next three years. The critical month for watering was the month of June, during which nothing was done and, during this prolonged drought, no effort was expended to save our mature parkway trees.
During a phone call to the village manager's office, it was stated that an article would appear in the August edition of F.Y.I. Too little?#34;too late. Way too late!
Our trees have always been considered one of our most valuable assets and simple instructions about watering them should have appeared in early summer. Simply put: Run your hose slowly at the drip line of the tree for two to three hours twice a week. The impending disaster certainly curdles my view of village staff management and responsibilities.
