Harmon challenger's comments just bigotry

I read with interest the article in Wednesday Journal's "Inside Report" concerning GOP candidate Jim Rowe's comments regarding Senator Don Harmon ("Candidate challenges 'Illinois Axis of Evil,'" Aug. 17).

Specifically, Rowe's comment: "...State Senators like Don Harmon...worry more about whether Billy should be allowed to marry Tommy than focusing on our priorities such as schools, jobs and healthcare".

Rowe's feeble attempt at humor is insulting to the lesbian and gay constituents of this district and all residents of this district who believe in basic equal rights. It is not humor, it is homophobic bigotry.

Bashing hardworking citizens of one's district for political sensationalism should not be tolerated by any political party. If this is the type of candidates the Republican Party slates, then I look forward to working for Senator Harmon to defeat this narrow minded apparent bigot.
