Gregory Brickhouse, 53, auto industry mechanic

Gregory Brickhouse, 53, of Oak Park, formerly of Freeport and Chicago, died at his home on Aug. 18, 2013. Born in Chicago on Feb. 22, 1960 to the late James and Lucille Brickhouse, he graduated from Chicago's Marshall High School and attended Malcolm X College, also in Chicago. For many years, he worked as a mechanic in the automotive industry. He found joy in helping others through odd jobs and building and repairs.

Mr. Brickhouse is survived by his daughter, Wendy Brickhouse; five brothers and four sisters; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled at 12 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St. in Oak Park, followed by interment at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park.
