Lois Reed, 87, Teacher, avid traveler

Lois Wells Reed, 87, of Oak Park, died on June 28, 2011. After earning a master's degree in early childhood development from the University of Chicago, she spent many years teaching pre-school. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends to Hawaii, Europe, Egypt, China and throughout the United States.

A resident of Oak Park since 1967, Mrs. Reed enjoyed participating in the local French Club, Spanish Club, and swimming at the YMCA. She regularly volunteered for the League of Women Voters and Red Cross blood drives.

Lois Reed is survived by her three children Allen, Robin, and Brian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Reed,

A memorial reception will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 1 to 3 p.m., with a short service at 2 p.m., at 151 N. Kenilworth Ave., Oak Park.

So sorry at the loss of your mother as she was incredibly nice all the time. She was one I always enjoyed running into which didn't happen often enough. I tried to make the memorial service but arrived too late. She will be missed.
