Making his 28th appearance and 14th start of the season, Justin Olson passed the 100-inning mark and improved to 9-8 as New Britain defeated Harrisburg on Friday. He gave up four runs on seven hits, including a three-run homer, in a five-inning outing. His five strikeouts gave him 94 in 103 1/3 innings pitched.
Mike Santoro had a hit in five at-bats last week with San Francisco's rookie team in the Arizona League. Three of Santoro's six hits with the club have been doubles. He's batting .286 through seven games.
Double-A Midland infielder Vasili Spanos went 5-for-14 with two homers last week. Both were solo shots, August 9 against Arkansas and Thursday at Springfield. He boosted his average 14 points to .231.
Blake Whealy went 0-for-7 last week as his average fell to .209. His St. Lucie Mets are 27-23 and in fourth place in the Florida State League's East Division.
