Born in Chicago to the late Henry and Margaret Gainer, she worked as a clerk for the FBI in the Chicago office during WWII. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest and for many years a member of the River Forest Tennis Club.
Betty Watts is survived by her grandchildren, Jonathon and Joshua (Dawn) Stephens, and her great-grandchildren, Emily and Lilly Stephens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Watts D.D.S.; and her daughter, Susan Watts Stephens.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Grace Lutheran Church, 7300 W. Division St. in River Forest. Private interment will take place at Concordia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Lutheran Church or the Bethesda Home of Chicago are appreciated.

I'll always remember Betty for having such a positive attitude. She knew sadness ... but always focused on the joy in her life. Betty's sense of humor was always appreciated. She was a gracious and lovely woman.
