A century at Ascension

Ascension School is celebrating its centennial this year and we are not overstating its place in south Oak Park to note its essential role in that community's history. As the new school year ramps up, the school has announced the hiring of Dan Kane as the next athletic director.

We note this because Kane told us this week that he and his siblings attended the school, both of his parents attended Ascension and that he has grandparents who were students there. That covers the century and reinforces the vital connection between Ascension and its neighborhood.

If you were, you would understand. It is a strong, vibrant, fun, sub-community in the heart of south Oak Park

"That community's history"....or maybe you mean "OUR community's history." Seriously, why would the local paper continue to highlight a division in the Oak Park community that needn't exist? Shame on you WJ.
