OPRF 14U team notches second at Northbrook tourney

OPRF outscored opponents 29-14 in pool play

Oak Park River Forest 14U notched a runner-up finish at Northbrook's 4th of July Tournament. The team lost 9-8 in extra innings to the Lake County Stealth in the championship game.

OPRF advanced to the semifinals after scoring 29 runs and only allowing 14 runs in pool play. OPRF advanced to the championship game via a 15-4 win against Park Ridge. OPRF maintained a lead in the championship game until the Lake County Stealth tied game in the seventh inning 6-6 to extend the hard-fough battle into extra innings. OPRF scored two runs in the eighth inning to take an 8-6 lead, but the Stealth plated three runs to secure their dramatic 9-8 victory over OPRF.

Paul Koester, Lin Nancock, and Gary Nieslawski coached the OPRF 14U squad to its strong showing in the tournament.
