Ballclub competes at Cooperstown

The 10-year-old Oak Park Eagles boys' travel baseball team ventured into Cooperstown, N.Y. in late June for an 80 team national tournament. After losing the first game, the Eagles ran off six straight victories against top teams from across the country. Oak Park defeated teams from Southern California, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Minnesota before losing 4-1 to the Orange County Hawks, who advanced to the final four.

The team included 14 boys from Oak Park: Nathan Avis, Jack Belcaster, Griffin Baig, Robert Barlow, John Callahan, Patrick Callahan, Zachary Flores, Mason Hinckley, Jacob Harris, Jake Johnson, Brian Keegan, Sam Munno, Erik Oxnevad, and Judd Soudek.

"This was a great experience for the boys, and they showed the country the high quality of Oak Park baseball," said Miles Harris, co-head coach.

The Eagles finished third in the skills competition "Around the Horn" event, and Patrick Callahan took fourth in the "Golden Arm" contest.

This is the second year Oak Park has sent a 10-year-old team to Cooperstown to participate.
