On Friday, June 10, the Oak Park Arms Retirement Community hosted its 26th Annual Seniors' Prom, "Summertime in Venice." Following an Italian dinner buffet, residents and guests were serenaded by strolling accordion player Joe Martino. The king and queen of the prom, Helen Ulias and Bernie Gusfield, were crowned by last year's king and queen, Mikki Reinhold and Fred Czerwionka.
The Joe Martino Orchestra, with singer Luigi Lenzi, played Italian tangos and waltzes for dancing, Chris Colletti sang the Italian-American tunes made popular by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Dean Martin. The Oak Park Arms Scholarship was presented to Andrew Blanco, Oak Park and River Forest High School Class of 2005, who will attend the University of Michigan. A complimentary Italian dessert table with pastries and cookies from Il Giordino Del Dolce Bakery was served. Decorations included a gondola, which guests could board for an imaginary trip through the canals of Venice. If there is an important event in your organization that you would like to see on this page, please send information and photos to Village Voyeur, Wednesday Journal, 141 S.
