John Joseph Kuenster, 66, died on July 28, 2012. Born to Helen and the late Sylvester Kuenster on Jan. 27, 1946, he enjoyed a happy childhood in Oak Park, receiving his education at St. Edmund School and Fenwick High School. He received his bachelor's degree from Loras College, where he met his loving and devoted wife, Mary Frances.

Mr. Kuenster earned an MBA from Rosary College which afforded him a long and successful career as a surety bond underwriter. He never brought his work home and spent his life dedicated to his family, who considered him the "Go-To Man" if you needed something, anything. He was there to help and never asked for anything in return.

A genuine, kind and generous man, he loved playing cards in his spare time and was an avid master-level bridge player. His kind and gentle heart, sparkling eyes and infectious smile will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

John Kuenster is survived by his wife, Mary Frances; his children, Kathryn (Jason Krozel), Ann, Margaret (Michael) Karnick, and John Jr. (Wendy); his grandchildren, Brody, Ella, Abby, JJ, Jake, Cameron, Shane, and Ava; and his siblings, Virginia (Charles) Yarbrough, Lenore (Jerry) Siemer, Gregg (Songliu), MaryJo (Chuck Bassett), Maureen (Jean-Pierre Charmant), Mark, Margory (Skip Hobbs) and Angele (Don Gardner).

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at St. Edmund Church, 188 S. Oak Park Ave. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
