A 14-year-old Oak Park boy was killed after being shot as he rode his bicycle along North Avenue in Chicago in the early morning of July 3, said a spokesman from the Chicago police.
Damani Henard was riding his bike westbound from a friend's home near Keeler Avenue to his Oak Park home on North Lombard Avenue around 12:45 a.m., police said.
Two men appeared and ran south across North Avenue, one carrying a handgun, according to police. One man reportedly shot Henard in the head and back, and the two fled northbound on Leclaire Avenue, police said.
According to a story in the Chicago Tribune, Henard would have been a freshman at Oak Park and River Forest High School this fall.
