River Forest police responded to reports of suspicious persons in the area of 800 Monroe on July 18 shortly after 2 a.m. Residents reported seeing several subjects enter a car that did not belong to them.
The police searched the area and located the vehicle, which was driven by Laura Koziar, 20, of Chicago. Passengers included Sabree Dana, 21, of Bellwood, and Wsam Darayyad, 19, of Chicago.
Koziar was charged with fleeing the police and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors, and an Illinois vehicle code violation. Dana was charged with making a false 911 call to police, which is a felony. Darayyad was charged with four counts of felony burglary and four counts of misdemeanor criminal trespass to vehicle.
An unknown offender entered an unlocked garage on the 1000 block of N. Humphrey between July 21 and July 22 and entered the victim's two vehicles. The offender removed a Garmin GPS unit. Estimated loss is $100.
An unknown offender entered a garage on the 700 block of Gunderson between July 22 and July 23 and removed a black electric lawnmower and two silver Raleigh bicycles (one men's and one women's). Estimated loss is $1150.
An unknown offender used a pry-type tool to gain entry into the victim's storage locker on the 200 block of S. Maple between July 20 and July 24. Once inside, the offender removed a brown specialized Globe men's mountain bicycle. Estimated loss is $460.
Burglary to motor vehicle
An unknown offender entered a vehicle parked on the 500 block of N. Humphrey on July 21 and removed a black leather wallet containing miscellaneous items. The offender also ransacked the vehicle. Estimated loss is $55.
An unknown offender entered a vehicle parked on the 600 block of N. Grove between July 21 and July 22 and removed a Garmin Nuvi GPS unit. Estimated loss is $300.
An unknown offender entered a vehicle parked on the 100 block of Madison on July 23 and removed $200 in cash from the center console. Estimated loss is $200.
An unknown offender entered a vehicle parked on the 200 block of Washington between July 19 and July 20 through a closed but unlocked door and removed two pairs of sunglasses. Estimated loss is $250.
Retail theft arrest
Jerome Holder, 50, of the 100 block of N. Parkside in Chicago, was arrested for retail theft and battery on the 100 block of W. Madison on July 22.
Two female juveniles from Chicago were arrested for retail theft for an incident that occurred on the first block of Madison on July 23.
Theft of motor vehicle
An unknown offender removed a green/teal 1994 Ford Escort parked on the 500 block of N. Humphrey between July 22 and July 23. Estimated loss is $1,000.
An unknown offender used unknown means to remove a burgundy 2001 GMC Yukon from the 1100 block of S. Taylor on July 23. Estimated loss is $7,000.
An unknown offender entered a garage on the 500 block of N. Harvey on July 23 and removed a black Cannondale Caadx men's road bicycle. Estimates loss is $1,300.
An unknown offender removed a black leather wallet containing cash, a debit card, and an Illinois driver's license from a location on the 700 block of Lake on July 17. Estimated loss is $75.
An unknown offender entered the rear yard of a location on the 800 block of S. Cuyler on July 18 and removed a chain link portable dog kennel. Estimated loss is $100.
An unknown offender removed a black wheeled duffel bag full of baseball gear from the front porch of a location on the 200 block of Ashland between July 16 and July 17. Estimated loss is $700.
An unknown offender removed clothing items from a display rack at the front of a store located on the 100 block of N. Marion between July 16 and July 23. Estimated loss is $478.
An unknown offender entered the Whole Foods on Lake on July 24 and returned eight candles totaling $149 for store credit, then sold the store credit gift card to another customer for cash. A surveillance camera showed the woman entering the store without the candles, push her cart to the candle display, and later appear at the customer service desk with several candles.
Aggravated assault arrest
Cody Barton, 20, of the 4600 block of Forest in Brookfield was taken into custody for the aggravated assault of two fire fighters, while they were attending to him. The incident occurred on the 1100 block of S. Euclid on July 21. The subject's court date is set for August 15.
Violation of village ordinance
Rakeem Scatton, 20 and Hakeem Scatton, both of the 700 block of Euclid, were issued citations for hosting a party in which alcohol was provided to minors at their home on July 19. There were numerous partially consumed cans of beer and bottles of liquor, as well as a small plastic baggie containing a small amount of a green leafy substance suspected to be cannabis recovered from the residence. One Oak Park juvenile and one River Forest juvenile were cited for leaving the premises after being ordered by police to remain in order to be released to their parents.
Residential burglary arrest
Jonathan Brown, 20, of the 900 block of S. Monitor in Chicago was transported into the Oak Park police station from the Cook County Department of Corrections and charged with residential burglaries from the 400 block of N. Taylor and the first block of South Blvd. on July 21. Brown was processed and transported back to the Cook County Department of Corrections.
Nathaniel Brown, 48, of the 500 block of Clinton was arrested on July 19 at the corner of Corcoran and Mason for theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Driving under the influence arrest
Faustino, Brito, 44, of the 1300 block of Windfield Rd. in Bollingbrook was arrested for driving under the influence on the 1100 block of Chicago on July 24.
Aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs
Gene Howard, 50, of the 3400 block of Roesner Dr. in Markham was arrested on the 400 block of Washington on July 20 shortly after 10 p.m. The violations included aggravated driving under the influence for driving with a revoked license, driving under the influence of drugs, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Three unknown offenders approached and struck a victim walking on the 100 block of Washington on July 20. One of the offenders pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the victim and demanded the victim's wallet. The victim complied and the offenders fled from the scene in an unknown direction. Estimated loss is $50.
These items were obtained from the Oak Park and River Forest police departments from July 19-25. Not all incidents that occurred are listed. Anyone named in reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated.
