To say that last week showed how a community can work together is an understatement. Proud. Humbled. Inspired. Amazed. These are words we’re hearing from friends of the Strokosch family.

Oak Park heard a call for help from a family in need and it responded with an effort that was nothing short of Herculean. Why? Because the Strokosch family is respected for their civic activity in this village. Because time and again they have given selflessly to improve the quality of life here. Because so many people believe in them. But more importantly, because the people of this community are full of integrity and when they hear a call for help, they answer it any way they can.

Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, energy and skills to bring our friend home. Thank you to people who know the family and to those who just knew it was the right thing to do. Thank you all for not thinking, “Why should we do this?” and instead asking, “How can we help?”

The Irving School community and residents of south Oak Park have proved that people will fight for what they believe in, and we know that those who appreciate this spirit will do the same.

Oak Parkers have tremendous energy and passion. We hope that moving forward we can continue to use that energy to improve our community, whether that means helping an individual, a family or any part of the world we live in together.
