There is deep concern by world leaders and ordinary citizens of the world about the civil war now taking place in Syria which could lead to a third World War if events are not properly managed by the word's great powers.

World War I took place following an event in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. The event brought about the first World War from 1914-1918 in which the U.S. became involved along with other European powers.

World War II took place after the Civil War in Spain brought Germany in and later Italy became involved and helped decide the outcome of the war on behalf of the Spanish aristocracy and church. The United States became involved after the bombing at Pearl Harbor when Franklin Roosevelt was president of the U.S. The second World War ended after President Truman became president when President Roosevelt died and Truman ordered the use of atom bombs in Japan.

The world has seen other wars taking place in Korea and Viet Nam but without the use of nuclear weapons. If the civil war in Syria gets out of hand, it could lead to a third World War, bringing other nations, including Iran, Russia, China and the United States.

A third world war would be a disaster for the entire world, especially since it would possibly lead to the use of nuclear weapons by the powers at war.

The civil war now taking place in Syria should be managed with great diplomacy or it could result in an event which turns out to be a disaster for the world of incalculable proportions.
