We can only hope for rehabilitation

Dear Mr. Trainor,

You have articulately expressed how I feel and think about the George Zimmerman verdict [The real verdict is also in, Ken Trainor, Viewpoints, July 17]. I only wish our society was more willing to rehabilitate people who make serious mistakes instead of punishing them. Perhaps Mr. Zimmerman will become a better person on his own as you suggest. Maybe we need 12-Step programs for people who murdered someone and who now need help dealing with their behavior.
