The lives of the following U.S. soldiers were lost in Operation Enduring Freedom between June 11 and June 23:

Jared Brown, 20; William Moody, 30; Robert Ellis, 21; Ember Alt, 21; Justin Johnson, 25; Corey Garver, 25; Javier Sanchez, 28

Remember their families, and remember the civilians lost in violence around the world.

From the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, the Chicago Police Department, and the Chicago Breaking News Center, by way of Chicago Tribune's RedEye, Thursday editions:

In the city of Chicago, the following people were killed by violence between June 18 and June 26:

Rene Segundo Soto, 21; Uriel Guadarramo, 36; James Wright, 56; Vincent Mayes, 31; Carl Austin, 20; Eduardo Venagas, 18; Justin Jackson, 22; Sarah Kresilova, 24; Marissa Boyd-Stangley, 19; Cortez Bailey, 23; Robert Douglas, 31; Tracy Gipson, 18.
