Heidi Ann Moll Schoedel, 51, of Oak Park, died on June 27, 2013 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Born on Aug. 27, 1961, in Chicago, she was one of the co-founders of Exodus World Service. Her faith led her to develop this Christian community to care for refugees coming to the United States. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Forest Park and a leader in the international Refugee Highway Partnership. Family and friends describe her as a brilliant woman with a heart of gold who showed love and compassion to everyone she met — a great leader and a strategic thinker.
Heidi Schoedel is survived by her husband, Peter Michael Schoedel; her children, Kathryn, Rebekah, Thomas, and Joshua; her parents, Hans and Marcia Moll; her sisters, Debra (Dave) Hunter, Amy (Phil) Kispert and Emily (Kevin) Thomson; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service was held on July 2 at St. John Lutheran Church, 305 Circle Drive, Forest Park.
