Justin Olson allowed one earned run in six innings for Double A New Britain last week to lower his ERA to 4.48. He evened his record at 7-7 on July 11 by winning a spot start at Bowie, then threw a scoreless ninth inning against New Hampshire on Saturday. With seven strikeouts last week, he's now averaging 7.79 strikeouts per nine innings.
Giants farmhand Mike Santoro went 1-for-8 and scored a run last week as he played in three of Class A Salem-Keizer's six games. Santoro is hitting .160 (4-for-25) in nine games.
Vasili Spanos' average plummeted 55 points, from .273 to .218, after he went 2-for-23 in seven games last week. He knocked in two runs to give him 17 RBIs in 22 games with Midland of the Texas League.
Blake Whealy went hitless in nine at-bats for St. Lucie last week, walking twice and striking out four times. His average dropped to .222. Whealy has seven homers and 23 RBIs in 63 games.
