Thank Mike Madigan for your tax increase

Today when I got our second installment of the property tax, I found mine to be about $1,000 higher than anticipated.
I examined all the areas and they have increased — District 97 Elementary about $450 more and District 200 about $87 — which we did anticipate. The rest of the areas were up some, but not a lot.
Where did the increase come from? The homeowners exemption last year was $3,628 and this year $633, or about a $3,000 decrease in the exemption. That is the big difference — House Speaker Mike Madigan's work to eliminate the exemption.
It has worked and he can take the credit for it, along with the Illinois Legislature.

Muntz, good luck getting any kind of term limits passed. It's not like politicians are really going to vote themselves out of job. Not only should we have term limits, the job should also be part time as far as I am concerned. Plus no government lobbying of any kind allowed for five years after term served. Of course, the people get the goverment they elect, not the one they deserve. Stop voting for these idiots and term limits wouldn't be necessary.

There is but one answer...TERM LIMITS. Term limits are the only way to prevent the Madigans of the world having too much power for too long. In the Nov elections, about 22,000 people voted for Madigan. That means the Speaker of the House is chosen by less than 1% of the IL population...year after year. Because other dems don't have the guts to step up to the plate. Perhaps they are part of the "machine" that keeps getting them re-elected and do not wish to rock the proverbial boat.
Sick and Tired from Chicago

Madigan has all the power in Illinois. He does not put a bill up for vote in the General Assembly unless it benefits himself or his law office. The General Assembly representing all our districts cannot vote on bills he chooses not to bring to the floor. He is untrustworthly and dishonest. People of Chicago need to get him out of office because he is the biggest reason why Illinois is the 2nd worst State to live in.

Every "progressive" & "activist" Oak Parker should focus all of their energies this fall on getting Michael Madigan removed from office. He is the single, biggest reason why Illinois is a national joke, & has the worst economy in America. He's a crook of the highest order, & worse yet cares not a lick for the economic hardships of women & monorities especially. Rather than wasting time in WI, do some local good for a change.

The home owners exemption was designed to blunt the drastic increases in a rising real estate market. The exemption was also designed to push the burden of rising values to non-residential properties. The formulas weren't created with a downward or stagnant market in mind. I am not sure they were ever revised.
