An unwelcome sign in Oak Park: Keep Off the Grass

At the start of spring this year, I was looking forward to going to the park and playing soccer with my friends. I live close to a park district park, so my friends and I walked over there only to see a sign on the lawn that said "Keep off the grass for the upcoming season."

It was the start of spring, our first chance to go outdoors in warm weather, and we couldn't go onto the field at the park. We feel this is excluding the kids who are not in the organized park district activities. My parents, like all other Oak Parkers, pay taxes to the village of Oak Park, so we believe that we should be allowed to go to the park that they are paying for. I would hope that next year the park district considers this situation, and changes their policy.

@ Matt. If you read the whole sign, it said: "Keep Off The Grass, Stay On The Hopium".

Maybe you should thinkg about the grass feelings next time. How would you like it if someone wanted to walk and run all over you? Plants are people too.

That is not the policy at all. Keep off the grass is for all involved so that there may actually be grass. It is extremely important at spring time and after over use
