Christopher Swordy, 22, loved poetry and music

Christopher Robert Swordy, 22, of Oak Park died after being struck by an automobile on Harlem Avenue at Jackson Boulevard in Oak Park early Saturday morning, July 13, 2013. Born in Chicago on Aug. 17, 1990, he graduated from Lincoln Elementary School and Oak Park and River Forest High School and attended Triton College in River Grove. Most recently he worked at Avenue Ale House in Oak Park and previously worked for the Park District of Oak Park. He will be remembered for his love of writing poetry, rapping, performing and recording music. Seeing friends and family were his favorite pastimes.

Christopher Swordy is survived by his mother, Josephine Ryan, and his siblings, Julia and John Swordy. He was preceded in death by his father, Simon Patrick Swordy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2013 from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at Ascension Church, 808 S. East Ave. in Oak Park.

Arrangements were handled by Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home.
