A plethora of plays by Bravo and Cast Summer
Best of the weekend is starting a little early this weekend, but hey, it's summer. This Thursday evening, the Bravo Performing Arts Academy is performing a spectacular rendition of Aladdin. The Thursday performance begins at 7:30 p.m. at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School, 325 S. Kenilworth Ave. Tickets are just $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors.
Tickets can be purchased online at sites.google.com/site/brooksbravo or by calling the Bravo office at 524-5621. And, if you miss that showing, you have two more chances. Friday, July 15, the show begins at 11 a.m., and Sunday, July 17, the show begins at 2 p.m.
Bravo's also putting on a rendition of Little Shop of Horrors. Tickets are the same price and can be purchased in the same manner. The showings for Little Shop of Horrors are Friday, July 15 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, July 16 also at 7:30 p.m.
Be sure to catch one of these impressive performances. Also, you theatre buffs out there should also go to www.op97.org to check out the always enjoyable CASTSummer productions.
Circle Theatre's "The Women"
While you're in the drama production mood, you should also spend some time cooling off in Circle Theatre, 1010 Madison St., to see their production of "The Women". Local theater reviewer, Doug Deuchler, describes the performance as "a wonderful smorgasbourd of juicy put-downs and quick comebacks."
Tickets for everyone are $22 for Friday shows, and on Saturday and Sunday, they are $26 for adults and $24 for seniors and students. The show begins at 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 16, and at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 17. You can purchase tickets at www.circle-theatre.org or by calling the theatre at 660-9540.
Trailside Museum's nature hike
After all of these indoor performances, why not get outside and enjoy fresh air and nature with the morning fitness hike at the Trailside Museum of Natural History, 738 Thatcher Ave. The hike lasts for an hour and you'll be guided by a Naturalist who will be highlighting "what is going on in nature this month".
This program is for adults and is from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16. For more information, call them at 366-6530.
