Five individuals suspected in a string of robberies at or near the Green Line station at Cicero and Lake in the Austin community have been apprehended, according to Chicago police.
The suspects were charged with robbery or attempted robbery related to incidents occurring at the station from March through June. A recent robbery occurred the afternoon of Tuesday, June 5, when a male offender leapt from the train onto the Cicero and Lake platform after stealing a young woman's cellphone, according to an eyewitness at the scene.
The offender fled toward an exit heading down to street level. The female victim went to the train operator to report the crime. It's unknown whether her assailant is among the five suspects arrested by police.
Officers used security video at the station to identify the suspects.
