Oak Park police are searching for a man who shot a man in the leg during an alleged armed robbery at a BP gas station at 100 Chicago Ave. on Tuesday morning.

Police released little information about the armed robbery that occurred at 1:22 a.m. on June 2, but say they are searching for a black man approximately age 20 to 30 years old, standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, according to police.

According to the official police report, the 39-year-old victim was sitting in the passenger seat of a 2012 white Jeep Liberty at pump No. 1 at the gas station when he was approached by a subject with a gun who opened the passenger’s door.

“Give me what you got,” the offender stated.

The driver exited the vehicle and the male victim in the passenger’s seat also attempted to exit the vehicle through the driver’s side door.

The official police report states the man in the passenger’s seat was shot in the right leg while trying to exit the vehicle, but a police summary report states he was shot in the foot.

The shooter then fled the scene, according to police. The shooting victim was treated at West Suburban Hospital.
