Park District Executive Director Jan Arnold is still waiting on cost estimates for the Irving schoolyard project from District 97 before the park board can decide how much money they'll contribute.

Arnold said she hoped to update the park board at its meeting July 12 about how much money organizers of the blacktop renovation are looking for—and when they'd need it by. Park board members have voiced their support for the project that is expected to cost more than $2 million, but have suggested the parks might contribute money over a number of years.

The artificial turf field that will replace the asphalt is expected to cost $980,000, and D97 has already committed $500,000. Organizers have raised $100,000.
