Signs of the times

This set of signs resides on a pole across Oak Park Avenue from the Oak Park Arms. I parked there recently and happened to glance up at these signs to see if there was something I should know. It's possible there is, but it took careful study to parse the intelligence they are (and are not) conveying.

Apparently, one can park for four hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, but not really because you can't park Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. or from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., but it's OK other times, except you can't park 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesdays.

The arrow above the signs directs one to the hospital, where you can be treated for confusion.

Another Victim of Confusing Signs from Oak Park

Posted: June 26th, 2013 7:23 PM

I once parked on North Boulevard just east of Marion. The signs read 2 hour parking 8 am to 5 pm. It was after 5, so I did not feed the meter. When I came out I had just received a ticket and asked the ticket dispenser why. He said you had to feed the meters until 6 pm. The small print on the meters did say 6 pm, but the signs were confusing. When I submitted pictures of the signs and contested the ticket online, I lost and was ordered to pay the fine. Typical Oak Park.
