Two arrests made in May armed robbery

Thomas Johnson, 18, of the 900 block of S. 25th Ave. in Bellwood, and a juvenile Glendale Heights resident, were both arrested on June 13 and charged with armed robbery. The robbery occurred May 11, shortly after 8 p.m. on the 800 block of Home. Two offenders approached a victim, pointed a handgun at the victim, and removed his briefcase, which contained $85 in cash. The total estimated loss was $638.

Theft

An unknown offender removed both the front and rear Illinois license plates from a car parked on the 6300 block of Roosevelt between June 10 and June 13. Estimated loss is $9.

An unknown offender removed a package that had been delivered to a residence on the first block of Adams by the postal service between June 10 and June 12. Estimated loss is $90.

An unknown offender removed a wallet from an unattended purse at a location on the 7000 block of Roosevelt on June 9. Estimated loss is $60.

An unknown offender entered a garage on the 1100 block of Schneider on June 13 and removed a men's bicycle. Estimated loss is $452.

An unknown offender approached a victim on the 300 block of N. Marion on June 14 and asked to use a phone. The offender then grabbed the victim's purse, which was sitting on the porch. The offender fled after handing off the purse to a second unknown offender who was standing on the sidewalk. Estimated loss is $40.

An unknown offender removed a gym bag left unattended in the weight room at a location on the 200 block of S. Marion on June 15. The bag contained $12 in cash, a driver's license, social security card, a wallet, and miscellaneous clothing. Estimated loss is $82.

An unknown offender removed an Apple iPhone from underneath a bench at a location on the 600 block of S. Ridgeland on June 16 while the victim was playing basketball nearby. Estimated loss is $50.

An unknown offender removed a Schwinn Supermatic BMX style bicycle from a location on the 1100 block of North Blvd. on June 15 by cutting the lock by unknown means. Estimated loss is $450.

Burglary

An unknown offender entered a garage on the 1100 block of S. Euclid between June 12 and June 13 and removed a men's bicycle. Estimated loss is $250.

Retail theft

An unknown offender was observed on video surveillance removing a pair of Nike Air Griffey Max II gym shoes from a store located on the first block of Madison on June 13. Estimated loss is $70.

An unknown offender was observed exiting a store on the 900 block of Madison on June 17 with an unknown item concealed under his shirt. Further investigation revealed a Netgear computer adaptor was removed. The offender fled the scene north on Kenilworth and entered a white Buick 4-door vehicle, which drove away east in the north Madison alley.

Attempted armed robbery

An unknown offender approached a victim on the 1100 block of Pleasant on June 13 and stated "give me your money." The offender then displayed a handgun, and the victim fled. No loss was reported.

Robbery

Two juvenile offenders on bicycles approached two victims walking westbound on the 800 block of North Blvd on June 14. One offender grabbed a purse from one of the victims and the second offender attempted unsuccessfully to remove the second victim's purse. Estimated loss is $415.

Residential burglary

An unknown offender entered a residence on the 900 block of N. Ridgeland on June 14 and removed a plasma television, an LCD television, and a jewelry box. Estimated loss is $4,350.

An unknown offender entered a residence on the 900 block of N. Austin on June 15 and removed a set of house and car keys, and later removed the victim's vehicle. Estimated loss is $10,010.

An unknown offender entered an apartment on the first block of Thomas on June 15 and removed a flat screen Magnavox television and JVC DVD player. Estimated loss is $1,200.

Two unknown offenders were observed parking in the rear of a residence on the 1100 block of S. Humphrey on June 18. The offenders used a pry-type tool to break the lock on the rear basement door, entered the residence, and removed an Xbox 360 game console, $1,000 in cash, two Xbox controllers, and miscellaneous jewelry. The suspects then entered the black, older-model 4-door auto and left the scene heading northbound in the alley. Estimated loss is $2,970.

Burglary to auto

An unknown offender broke a window in a 1993 Toyota Corolla parked on the 100 block of Lake between June 16 and June 17 and removed a Pioneer radio faceplate, ransacked the glove box, and removed the cover of the dashboard in an apparent attempt to remove the radio. The items were left on the front seat and nothing appeared to be missing. The offender also ransacked the trunk and left it ajar. No loss was reported.

Theft of motor vehicle

An unknown offender removed a gold 1996 Ford F150 truck from a dealership on the 6100 block of Roosevelt Rd. on June 17 during a test drive. Estimated loss is $3,500.

An unknown offender removed a yellow and purple 1996 Honda CBR6000F3 motorcycle from a location on the 200 block of Chicago on June 17. Estimated loss is $5,000.

Delivery of cannabis on school grounds

Tony T. Grayer, 19, of the 1000 block of Bellwood Ave. in Bellwood, was arrested at a location on the 100 block of N. Euclid on June 17 and charged with delivery of cannabis on school grounds and delivery of cannabis.

Aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol

Rosario Hernandez, 29, of the 6000 block of S. Knox in Chicago was arrested on the 800 block of S. East on June 19 and charged with aggravated driving under the influence, endangering the life/health of a child, and received traffic citations.

Valentin Garcia, 24, of Melrose Park, was arrested at North and 1st Ave. on June 18 and charged with aggravated driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, and driving with an open alcohol container. Garcia refused field tests and a breathalyzer. His license was suspended for a previous driving under the influence charge.

Financial identity theft

A victim reported on June 14 that between Aug. 12, 2010 and May 12, 2011 an unknown offender opened a creditreport.com account in the victim's name and using her credit card number made 10 fraudulent charges totaling $169.

Deceptive practice

Marsha Hawkins, 50, of the 7600 block of S. Phillips in Chicago was arrested at the CVS Pharmacy on the 7900 block of North on June 17 and charged with unlawful possession of a prescription form. On June 4 she presented a fake prescription to the pharmacy and was given 100 pills of Norco. On June 17 she was arrested after attempting to do the same, and charged for the June 4 offense.

These items were obtained from the Oak Park and River Forest police departments from June 14-20. Not all incidents that occurred are listed. Anyone named in reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated.
