The District 200 Board of Education is scheduled to select a replacement member on June 23 to finish out the term of Jacques Conway, who resigned from the board last month.
The board has been looking for a new member for the seven-person body, but just who those prospects are has been held in confidence.
Thursday's regular meeting starts at 7 p.m. at Oak Park and River Forest High School, 201 N. Scoville, in the board room.
The board began deliberating over the weekend to find a replacement for two-term trustee Conway, who resigned on May 26. The board has 45 days to appoint a new member following a trustee's departure. Conway left to focus on a job at a South Side of Chicago nonprofit and to deal with a personal financial matter. He also threw his support behind John Allen, a former member, as his replacement. Allen lost in his bid for re-election in April.
The board opened the selection process and publicly asked for letters of interest. That deadline concluded June 15. The board had previously scheduled June 18 to start deliberating on candidates. They continued deliberations at a second meeting early Monday morning. All sessions have been closed, and the school has not made public the letters of interest or the names of those who sought to fill the seat.
Conway was re-elected in 2009 and the new member will finish out his term through 2013.
