To the River Forest Township Board,
I attended the meeting June 8. I thought that the board acted mean-spirited and wrong. I felt the treatment of several residents and the Township Assessor was condescending.
It is interesting to me how these meetings operate. If a resident asks a question, the board promises to reply at the next meeting. If the board asks a question they expect an immediate response. For example, I asked if the result of the proposed budget was a deficit. The board, which had indicated they had reviewed the budget "line by line," deferred the answer to the next meeting. I do not know the final approved budget, but the preliminary budget indicated estimated revenue of $427,753 and estimated expenditures of $588,046. The result in my opinion is a deficit. Why would that question take 30 days to answer? To me that was a yes or no question. I will wait for the next board meeting to hear the answer from the River Forest Township board.
